Here’s proof that your kids actually want limits re their phones

Yesterday I was wrote about media messages and helping my child have some defense against the armies of marketers and psychologists creating ad campaigns and social media.  (If you missed it, you can read more here.)

The dangers kids are exposed to online are wayyyyy beyond what most of us realize.  That’s why I want to let you know about my friend Jesse Weinberger, a tech professional turned internet safety speaker for schools.

Jesse polls each school she visits, and her data, while informal, speaks volumes.  She’s analyzed thousands of student responses to the question: “If YOU could educate parents, what would you tell them? What do you think that they need to know?”

According to Jesse, almost a quarter of students “chose to use that space to ask parents for increased limits, increased supervision, better digital parenting and better role models – all based on zero prompting by me either during the presentation or on the printed exit survey.”

The quotes of what the adolescents actually wrote are pretty powerful!  It’s not what you might expect.

You can read it all here: http://www.overnightgeekuniversity.com/

Hope this provides useful insight and encouragement!

In support of you,

Anya
